eurobahn over time

Jan.
2022

As of 1 January 2022, the well-known brand name eurobahn will become the company name and thus Keolis Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG will become eurobahn GmbH & Co. KG. With the withdrawal of the French company Keolis S.A, eurobahn will receive a new shareholder structure as of 31 December 2021. TEAM Treuhand GmbH will become a new shareholder of eurobahn through a subsidiary, SG eurobahn UG (limited liability).

2018

The contract for the Hellweg network will be extended for 12 years. In addition to the existing four-unit FLIRT trains, additional five-unit FLIRT trains will be introduced, which will used to travel around 5.9 million additional kilometres.

The eurobahn rail network will be extended by approximately 5.3 kilometres with the Teutoburg Forest network. Eight five-unit FLIRT multi-system vehicles will be deployed for cross-border services between Germany and the Netherlands. They will be added to the fleet of 19 FLIRT vehicles taken over from WestfalenBahn.

The OWL contract is extended to 2025 and the eurobahn network acquires two new lines, RB 67 and RE 82, offering passengers improved timetable reliability. The 2.2 million kilometres per year in the East Westphalia-Lippe region are comfortably performed by diesel railcars.

Commissioning of the Maas-Rhine-Lippe network. FLIRT electric multiple units perform 3.3 million kilometres per year; more than 10% of the total regional passenger rail transport in the most populous German state.

2008

eurobahn wins the tender for the Hellweg network. The Hellweg network is the largest electrically powered railway network ever contracted to a private railway undertaking. For this network, the company acquires Stadler FLIRT four-unit electric multiple units, which cover 5.6 million kilometres across East Westphalia, Münsterland and the Ruhr area every year.

The independent transport company Keolis Deutschland is established when the companies Keolis and Rhenus split, and it continues to operate successfully under the name eurobahn. Keolis Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG is a subsidiary of Keolis S.A., which itself is a subsidiary of the French national railway Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF).

2003-2011

eurobahn has 11 LINT diesel railcars (manufactured by Alstom) on the Weser and Lammetal railways and covers around 1.4 million kilometres per year. During this period, passenger numbers on the Lammetal railway increase by more than 100%.

2000

eurobahn is the first privately operated regional rail passenger transport in the East Westphalia-Lippe region and in May 2000 takes over two lines, RB 71 and RB 73. TALENT diesel railcars (manufactured by Bombardier) are used on the route and provide a transport volume of 900,000 kilometres per year.
