Handover of baton at eurobahn: Sebastian Achtermann hands over the position of Head of Vehicle Management to Thomas Holfert
Düsseldorf, 28 February 2024 - Thomas Holfert took over responsibility for the eurobahn fleet in Hamm-Heessen and Bielefeld-Sieker as Head of Vehicle Management on 1 December 2023. The 37-year-old succeeds Sebastian Achtermann, who previously held the position for over five years. Achtermann is leaving eurobahn at the end of February and is looking forward to his new position as Managing Director of a railway transport company. "We are very pleased about Sebastian Achtermann's new career prospects and would like to thank him for his consistently valuable performance and commitment. In addition, he has always supported and developed his team so that we were able to fill this important position internally with Thomas Holfert," says Karsten Schulz, Technical Managing Director.
Learnt from the ground up
Thomas Holfert's professional career began with a traditional apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic. He started his career as a vehicle mechanic at a railway company in 2009. Born in Werl, he has been part of the eurobahn team since 2019 and therefore not only knows the vehicle fleet in theory, but also has in-depth practical knowledge. In Thomas Holfert, the 100-strong workshop and vehicle management team has an expert manager who has undergone continuous internal and external training. In addition to his previous position as Deputy Head of Vehicle Technology, he successfully completed further training to become a Local Operations Manager in February 2023. "I am very much looking forward to my new tasks and thank you for your trust. Digitalisation is also indispensable in the area of vehicle management, which is why one of the goals is to develop a fault app so that we can plan and implement maintenance even more effectively," says Thomas Holfert, Head of Vehicle Management.
