Niedersachsentarif

The Niedersachsentarif was introduced in 2013 as a joint local transport tariff for the railway companies operating there.

It is valid on all connections within Lower Saxony and for journeys between Lower Saxony and Hamburg or Bremen.

Ticket purchase:

  • At the ticket machines at the station or in the trains of the railway companies
  • as a mobile phone ticket in the FahrPlaner app or theDB Navigator
  • as an online ticket via the FahrPlaner or www.bahn.de
  • When selecting the ticket, the price for the selected connection in the Niedersachsentarif is displayed

How much does the card cost? Where can you travel to and for how long

This monthly ticket for journeys on local trains in Lower Saxony, Bremen and Hamburg costs €29.50. With the annual travelcard it is only €25.50 per month. The comprehensive area of validity (even including parts of NRW and as far as Hengelo in the Netherlands) is shown on the map at www.mehr-erleben-flatrate.de. You need a separate ticket for buses and trams.

The U21Freizeitkarte Niedersachsen is valid for one month and from Monday to Friday from 2 pm. There is no time limit on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and public holidays in Lower Saxony. When purchasing, you can choose: valid immediately, from a specific day or on the first day of the month.
In addition to the monthly ticket, you should have your student ID or identity card to hand for checks on the train.
