Travelling to and around the Netherlands

Trains from Germany to the Netherlands every hour

Two countries, one ticket
Good news for border workers: you only need one ticket to travel between Germany and the Netherlands when you use the RB 61. The Lower Saxony tariff applies on all journeys from Lower Saxony and Münsterland to Hengelo or Oldenzaal. And it doesn't matter whether you start your journey on the German side or the Dutch side. Discover leisure and business travel without borders every hour!

Through the Netherlands with the OV-chipkaart
For journeys within the Netherlands, such as between Oldenzaal and Hengelo, the Dutch tariff and payment system (the OV-chipkaart) applies. This is a type of reloadable credit card that can be used on almost all public transport in the Netherlands. As there is no special OV-chipkaart for tourists, it is best to purchase a single or an 'anonyme OV-chipkaart'. Both chip cards can be obtained from a counter or card machine at the station, as well as at various newsagents and supermarkets. You can find more information about using the OV-chipkaart at www.ov-chipkaart.nl.
